Private Calls on the WAVE Web Communicator

Private Calls are individual calls made between two WAVE clients or a WAVE client and a supported Radio Subscriber (radio unit). In the WAVE Web Communicator Private Calls can be initiated from the CONTACTS list, the MEMBERS list, or from the MAP pins.

Note: During a Private Call, audio from all other Channels is automatically muted. After Private Call termination, the mute status of all other Channels is returned to its previous state.

To initiate a Private Call from the CONTACTS list
  1. In the left column of the Web Communicator, click CONTACTS.
    The CONTACTS list opens.
  2. Locate the user to call and click the green phone icon.
  3. In the GROUPS section, a Private Talkgroups area appears. WAVE connects with the selected user. You may begin communicating once the receiver accepts the call.
  4. When you are done communicating, click the red phone icon to disconnect. Private Talkgroups under the GROUPS section remain available for reconnection until you close them using the X icon.
To initiate a Private Call from the MEMBERS list
  1. Click the tab under the Map to open the MEMBERS list.
  2. Under ACTIONS for the recipient of the Private Call, click the green phone icon.
  3. In the GROUPS section, a Private Talkgroups section appears. WAVE connects with the selected member. Once the call is accepted, you may begin by pressing and holding the Push to Talk button in the Private Talkgroups section.
  4. When you are done communicating, click the red phone icon to disconnect. Previously established Private Talkgroups remain available until you close them using the X icon.
To initiate a Private Call from the MAP
  1. On the MAP, click a user Pin.
  2. Click the green phone icon.
  3. In the GROUPS section, a Private Talkgroups section appears. WAVE connects with the selected member. Once the call is accepted, you may begin by pressing and holding the Push to Talk button in the Private Talkgroups section.
  4. When you are done communicating, click the red phone icon to disconnect. Previously established Private Talkgroups remain available until you close them using the X icon.
To accept or reject a Private Call

When a Private Call request comes in, a banner appears at the top of your screen indicating the name of the caller and a phone icon.

  • Click the phone icon to accept the call and begin communication using the PTT button in the Private Talkgroups section.
  • Click the X icon to dismiss the call without answering.
